Coronavirus: FCTA enforcement team shuts down service at Christ Embassy and wedding ceremonies in Abuja (videos) Some wedding ceremonies and a church service holding today in some communities in Abuja, were shut down by officials of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) enforcement team.  A wedding ceremony at Berger Park, Wuse Zone 6 and another which was held at a Christ Embassy Church in Jabi-Utako area were shut down by the FCTA officials for going against a ban on public gathering in the FCT.  The FCTA tweeted;  TODAY: Closure of Chist Embassy church at Jabi-Utako area in Abuja where the FCTA Enforcement team met ongoing church programmes and wedding activity. School proprietor accused of raping 9-year-old pupil in Kaduna The proprietor of Liberation College, in Trikania, Kaduna has been arrested for allegedly raping a female pupil of his school.  The proprietor identified as Mr. Samuel Ejikeme reportedly confessed to raping a 9-year-old pupil on tape.  Kaduna State Commissioner of Human Services and Social Development, Hafsat Baba who confirmed the incident advised parents to withdraw their wards from the school. She tweeted;  Parents with wards at Liberation College, behind Govt Model Sch, Trikania are advised to withdraw them from the school. Femi Adesina dismisses report of FG paying Nigerians N30,000 as relief fund for coronavirus Femi Adesina has debunked a report of the federal government gearing up to disburse N30,000 to Nigerians as relief fund to help them stock up their homes ahead of a possible lockdown across the nation.  It was alleged that Presidential aide, Femi Adesina disclosed federal government's plan of giving stipends to Nigerians with bank verification number (BVN) to buy food items ahead of a lockdown over coronavirus.  However reacting to the report credited to him, Femi Adesina urged Nigerians to disregard the report. He tweeted;  Fake news peddlers have concocted a statement, purportedly issued by me, saying FG will pay N30,000 to each Nigerian with BVN, to help them stock up before an impending national lockdown. Not me. The so-called statement is hereby disclaimed.
Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, tests positive for Coronavirus Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has tested positive for Coronavirus.  The governor made the announcement in a statement he personally signed which was released to the media this evening. According to him, he took the test for the virus earlier in the week  and would be going into isolation in compliance with recommendations of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control. El-Rufai becomes the second Nigerian state governor to test positive to COVID-19. Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, is also in isolation after testing positive to the virus. Confirmed coronavirus cases in Nigeria rises to 89 as 8 new cases are reported 8 new cases of the novel coronavirus have been reported in Nigeria, raising the total confirmed cases to 89. 7 of the new cases were reported in Lagos state and 1 in Benue state. Announcing the news on Twitter, the Nigeria Centre For Disease Control wrote: "8 new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria, 7 in Lagos and 1 in Benue State. As at 04:00 pm 28th March there are 89 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria with 1 death."

Ministers donate 50% of their March salaries to support the fight against Coronavirus The 43 Ministers in the Federal executive Council have donated 50% of their March 2020 salaries to support the Federal Government's efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in the country. In a statement issued in Abuja today Saturday March 27th, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, quoted the Minister of State for Transportation, Senator Gbemisola Saraki, who coordinated the donation, as saying it was a gesture of solidarity and support for the Federal Government's efforts to tackle the disease. ''This global virus outbreak will require nations, continents and smaller communities to pull together to contribute their resources and support one another. Gossip! *Wink* Nigeria will go into recession if COVID-19 continues beyond six months – Finance Minister, Zainab Ahamed Zaina Ahmed, Nigeria's Minister of Finance, has said the country will go into recession if the Coronavirus pandemic persists longer than six months. She made this known when she appeared on Channels TV on Friday March 27. “We are hopeful that this pandemic will be limited in time. If it is an average of three months, we should be able to close the year with positive growth. But if it goes longer than that – six months, one year – we will go into recession.” she said
51 Italian doctors who tested positive for coronavirus have all died from the disease The Italian Association of Doctors have confirmed the death of 51 doctors who all died after testing positive for coronavirus. The doctors succumbed to the disease as of Friday, according to CNN, citing the Italian Association of Doctors. The death toll comes after Filippo Anelli, the president of the association, on Thursday called for doctors in the country to be provided with more personal protective equipment (PPE). "The first thing to do is to protect healthcare workers, to make sure they are not the ones spreading the virus. Our doctors have been sent to war unarmed," Anelli told  The Financial Times  in a Thursday article. "The dead do not make a noise. Nigeria records 11 new cases of Coronavirus 11 new cases of Coronavirus have been recorded in Nigeria. The Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC, said of the 11 cases, eight were detected in Lagos, two in Enugu and one in Edo state. This brings a total of 81 confirmed cases in Nigeria.
IG Comedian, Sydney Talker, cries out after reportedly showing symptoms of Coronavirus (video) Instagram comedian, Sydney Talker, has publicly called for a Coronavirus test to be carried out on him after reportedly showing symptoms of the viral disease. In a post shared on his Instagram page, Sydney said sometime last week, he developed mild symptoms of the disease and called the hotlines of the NCDC where he was told they would not be attending to him since he hasn't shown all the signs and symptoms of the disease, has not had any recent international travel history nor had any contact with a confirmed Coronavirus patient. According to him,the NCDC and eveyone dismissed his claim, attributing it to one of his many skits.
