COVID-19: Lagos state government to provide free medical services for pregnant women, others all through the month of April The Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, today announced that the state government would be offering free medical services to pregnant women and other persons with health emergencies in the state all through the month of April. COVID-19: FG seeks National Assembly approval for N500bn Intervention Fund In a bid to conquer the Coronavirus pandemic in the country, the Federal government has approached the leadership of the National Assembly for approval for the establishment of a N500 billion COVID-19 Crisis Intervention Fund. The Minister of Finance, Ahmed Zainab, met with the lawmakers today April 4th at the National Assembly complex. At the meeting, Ahmed said the proposed fund would be dedicated to upgrading of existing health facilities in states across the federation. Missing Osun Coronavirus patient finally apprehended The Osun State Government has confirmed that the Coronavirus patient who escaped from its isolation facility has been apprehended, hours after being declared missing.  This came after the state's Commissioner of information and Civic Orientation, Mrs. Funke Egbemonde denied report of six coronavirus patients escaping from the isolation facility in Ejigbo area of the state.  Egbemonde said earlier that only one person out of the 127 patients at the Isolation centre could not be accounted for by officials stationed at facility.  She said;  “This morning we embarked on a headcount and found out that only one person could not be accounted for by officials stationed at the Isolation centre out of the 127 persons. Coronavirus: Wedding ceremony of Jigawa Governor's nieces attended by only 7 people (photos) The wedding ceremony of Naseeba Badaru and Fatima Badaru Abubakar, nieces of Governor of Jigawa State Muhammed Badaru, was attended by only seven people in compliance with measures enforced by authorities to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Enugu commissioner for health dies The Commissioner for Health in Enugu State, Professor Anthony Ugochukwu is dead. The surgeon died at a private hospital in the state on Friday night, April 3rd. Jeff Mbah, the lawmaker representing Oji River state constituency in the Enugu House of Assembly confirmed the death of the comissioner who he described as a genius and technocrat. Ugochukwu was reportedly battling an ailment prior to his appointment as Commissioner in 2019. He had only returned from the United States and was doing fine before his sudden death. I wanted to use it for experiment - Pastor claims after being nabbed packing human faeces  A Pastor was paraded by residents of a South-West state after being nabbed packing human faeces.  When questioned, the Pastor first claimed he wanted to use the faeces for an experiment before stating that he needed it as a fertilizer.  When asked why he didn't use that of his children or church members, he said members are no longer coming to church at this time. However after one the residents pointed out that he could have used the faeces his members excreted before now, the Pastor defended himself by saying he never needed it then but needs it now. 
Former DG of Nigerian Law School reportedly dies of Coronavirus in UK A Former Director-General of the Nigeria Law School, Dr Koleade Abayomi has died in the United Kingdom (UK) after contracting Coronavirus, Guardin reports. A statement released by the Secretary of the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN), Seyi Sowemimo, SAN, disclosed that Abayomi died on Thursday April 2nd. “The BOSAN Secretariat wishes to announce the death of Dr Koleade A. Abayomi SAN, OON, who died in the early hours of today, 2nd of April, 2020 in London. Nigerian Army arrest officers who threatened to rape and infect Warri women with HIV The Nigerian Army says it has arrested two of its soldiers who threatened to rape and infect women in Warri, Delta State, with HIV in retaliation for the alleged killing of their colleague on Thursday April 2nd. Recall that youths of Ugbuwangue community in Warri attacked a soldier who allegedly killed a youth leader, Joseph Pessu, while enforcing the stay at home order of the state government. Read   here .
