381 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Nigeria - 183 in Lagos alone 381 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Nigeria on Thursday, May 7, 2020.  According to Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC, out of the 195 new cases of COVID-19, 183 were recorded in Lagos, 55 in Kano, 44 in Jigawa, 19 in Zamfara, 19 in Bauchi, 11 in Katsina, 9 in Borno, 8 in Kwara, 7 in Kaduna, 6 in Gombe, 5 in Ogun, 4 in Sokoto, 3 in Oyo,  3 in Rivers, 2 in Niger, 1 in Akwa Ibom, 1 in Enugu and  1 in Plateau.  Nigeria now has 3526 confirmed cases of COVID-19. 601 patients have been discharged from various Isolation centers across the country, while 107 deaths have been recorded.
195 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Nigeria as total number hits 3145  195 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Nigeria on Wednesday, May 6, 2020.  According to Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC, out of the 195 new cases of COVID-19, 82 were recorded in Lagos, 30 in Kano, 19 in Zamfara, 18 in Sokoto, 10 in Borno, 9 in FCT, 8 in Oyo, 5 in Kebbi, 5 in Gombe, 4 in Ogun, 3 in Katsina, 1 in Kaduna, and 1 in Adamawa.  Nigeria now has 3145 confirmed cases of COVID-19. 534 patients have been discharged from various Isolation centers across the country, while 103 deaths have been recorded.
FG makes changes in the planned evacuation of Nigerians in the US The Nigerian Mission in the US have made changes in the planned evacuation of Nigerians from the US due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The Consulate-General of Nigeria in New York who announced the changes in a statement issued on behalf of the Nigerian Missions in the U.S, said the evacuation which was earlier scheduled for this Sunday May 10, has been moved forward to Saturday May 9th. Also changed is the flight number from ET 509 announced earlier to ET 8509 by the same carrier, Ethiopian Airlines. The statement added that the list of evacuees would be prioritised according to their immigration status. “This includes the need to consider those stranded with proof of short-stay visas, the elderly, families with children and returning students,” the statement read According to the statement, 270 out of the 700 Nigerians who have shown interest to return home, ...
Another Borno lawmaker dies in hospital Umar Audi, the lawmaker   representing Bayo constituency at the Borno state house of assembly is dead. The Cable reported that the deceased was initially rejected at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital on Tuesday evening as the health workers insisted that there was no bed space. Audi however died shortly after his family members prevailed upon the hospital authorities. An eyewitness said;  “He died shortly after they admitted him. His sample has been sent to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control to certify if the death has anything to do with COVID-19." His death came barely a week after Bukar Wakil Lawan, lawmaker representing Nganzai constituency in Borno died of Coronavirus. 
Chinese researcher on the verge of making 'very significant' Coronavirus findings is killed in murder-suicide Dr Bing Liu, a research assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh's Medical Center's Computational and Systems Biology Department, has been shot dead inside the home he shared with his wife in Pittsburgh. The well respected 37 year old researcher was alone at his home in the 200 block of Elm Court in Ross Township on Saturday afternoon when another man known as Hao Gu - allegedly entered the residence through an unlocked door and opened fire striking him in the head, neck and torso with bullets. His wife was not home at the time of the homicide, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.  Pittsburgh Police said Gu then returned to his car parked 100 yards away at Charlemagne Circle and shot himself. Evacuation of Nigerians abroad to commence this Wednesday May 6 - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffery Onyeama Geofferey Onyeama, Nigeria's Minister for Foreign Affairs, says the evacuation of Nigerians from abroad due to the Coronavirus pandemic, will commence on Wednesday May 6th with the first evacuation from Dubai.  The Minister disclosed this when he spoke at the daily briefing of the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 today May 4. According to Onyeama, an Emirates flight from Dubai is expected in Lagos on Wednesday May 6, this will be followed by a BA flight from the UK on Friday May 8. Young Kenyan billionaire heiress dies in tragic road accident Terca Muigai, the daughter of Kenyan billionaire and Keroche Breweries Chairman. Joseph Karanja, died on Saturday, May 2, following a tragic accident. Terca was until her death, the Strategy and Innovation Director at Keroche Breweries. Tanzanian President Magufuli orders probe on COVID-19 kits after goat and pawpaw test positive for Coronavirus...lol Tanzanian president, John Magufuli on Sunday   ordered a probe on the country’s coronavirus testing kits after samples taken from a goat and pawpaw tested positive.  Speaking at an event in Chato in the northwest of Tanzania, Magufuli said the COVID-19 testing kits which had been imported from abroad had “technical errors”. The president said he had instructed Tanzanian security forces to check the quality of the kits, who then randomly obtained several non-human samples, including from a pawpaw, a goat, and a sheep, but had assigned them human names and ages.
