Mike Adenuga Foundation, donates N1.5b to fight COVID-19
The Mike Adenuga Foundation (MAF), established by business mogul, Dr. Mike Adenuga Jr., has donated the sum of N1.5 billion to government to support Nigeria’s fight against the global Coronavirus pandemic, otherwise known as COVID-19.
The money is made up of N1billion to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) which is coordinating efforts to raise funds from corporate bodies to support the initiatives aimed at combating the COVID-19 in Nigeria, and N500 million to the Lagos State Government, which has recorded the majority of the cases of the pandemic.
Mrs. Bella Disu, Executive Vice Chairman of Globacom, presented the N500 million cheque to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in Lagos today, Monday, while a representative of the Foundation presented the cheque for N1 billion to the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele in Abuja.
In addition to the financial contributions, the Foundation said it would continue its on-going efforts to assist various bodies and institutions in the country with the supply of such essential items as Sanitizers, Masks, Test Kits, Personal Prospective Equipment (PPEs), Respirators and other necessary requirements to combat the pandemic.
As part of its own response to ensure the safety of Nigerians while the pandemic lasts, the Mike Adenuga Foundation advised all to take measures to ensure their safety in line with the guidelines provided by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and the World Health Organisation (WHO). These include regular hand washing and use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers, limiting non-essential travel and ensuring timely medical checkups.
